Bill I've never seen one of these Shineray's. But it sounds like the 110 engine thats in the quad I have under the Ducar name I've seen them in alot of china built quads. This site here is another brand of quad with this 110 engine in it http://www.atvforless.com/LM110.htm

Check the specs out and see if it's the same. Below the specs they have a parts list with prices. The starter I think is $75 bucks Canadian so about $65 US. They also list a parts manual and service manual on there too.

Before you start pulling things apart did you check to see the battery and connections are good?? Try boosting it with a good battery and see if it turns over.

MY 1985 Honda TRX 250 would do the same thing, sometimes it was the battery. But most of the time it was the Brushes in the starter. I've probably replaced those 2 brushes 4-5times over the years at 30 bucks a pop from Honda. A starter was like $300-400 for it!!! Maybe now a days you can buy them aftermarket for half the cash?? Good old quad just has a weak starter design.

 

this is not a problem with the starter.it is a problem with the gearbox.i have seen the third gear weld itself to the shaft.this is what causes the whine.a lack of lubrication.i now of an easy fix for this.

im a mechanic.i work on quads.they break and people pay me to fix them.the factory that build these quads dont even know how to fix this.i have fixed another two today.£200.the price i charge for sending info is quite cheap when you compair it to the price of another engine or even the driveshaft if it seizes up.

 

cocacola I agree its not very polite to come on the forum and peddle some sort of fix for a quad asking for payment.

These 110's are simple quads to work on so it shouldn't be a big deal for someone who's mechanciallly inclinded etc. Besides its the internet someone some where has been there done that already on these things I'm sure.

 

these quads are very simple.but the engineers who made the parts fo the engines got it wrong.
if there is anyone who knows how to fix this then im sure you will find them.

 

I see you have lowered your price now from£100 to £40.....why is that? Not doing much business??? hehehe
Why don't you just put the info up here for all to see and share?
I repair peoples computers, if anyone asks in a forum how to fix something, and I know how to, I tell 'em - I don't charge 'em £40 for it....!!!!
