do any of you guys use you bikes for hauliing firewood or logs? thatsa one ove the things I like most about atvs is putting them to work. I was in the woods for a few weeks now and took some pics, here is my setup. Lets see some pics of your setup.

Dang pretty nice loads you can carry with that. I get all my wood in in the spring/summer. Either use a trailer or cable skid. Dont really like to skid them as it puts a hurting on the chainsaw.

 

Looks like you have a handle on the logging for wood thing. Used to heat with wood for a number of years but always cut it in the summer and hauled with a truck. Now we just set the thermostat to the temperature we want and let ReddyKilowatt do the work. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

yeah, I bet gravel embeded in the logs make for dull teeth LOL. I like getting the wood in winter because I have alot more free time and hauling with the wood sleds is alot easier on the bike than using a cart or trailer they glide along with ease (1/2" thick X 2" wide teflon on the runners helps).

 

Those sleds are very cool. Are they homebuilt item or something commonly available?

 

I have 2 sets, I built one set and bought the other because it was cheaper to buy the one already built than it was to make it. These sleds are very common around here seems like everyone who burns wood and has a snowmobile or atv has a set or 2. Some people build a plywood box and put that on the sled so they can saw the wood into junks before bringing it home.

 

Here's my Cat 500 in action, doing what it usually does on weekends - hauling firewood. Husky 272XP saw with 32" bar, and M1A in the rack, in case the deer poachers start getting careless again.

Vinny where can ya find the sleds? What kinda price tag go along with them? Usually do my cutting in the spring and fall.

thats a nice tub trailer you have there, I'd like to have on for hauling moose and stuff in the fall. Thats some bar on the saw mine is only 16" but plenty big for the trees we cut up to 24". It's not easy to find a tree that large around here.

We made one set and bought the other from a local guy who makes and sells them locally they cost $180-200 sometimes the tow bar is not included a guy across the street made my tow bar for like $10.

 

I love my Husky 51, i run a 22 inch bar but i also have the 18. you just cant stop that saw.
