Default Cuts out in Reverse

06 400ex

Weird thing has been happening. When I go into reverse and give it gas it cuts out or misses. It does not have allot of power in reverse due to that. Has been getting worse over the summer, just not sure what to check? Any ideas?
Thanks

I have no idea why it would get worse, but the rev limiter would be about the only thing that could cause it to miss in reverse and not in forward.

On Rincons wiring in a bypass switch so the computer thinks the subtransmission is still in forward is a pretty popular mod.

well I am not sure if it is getting worse, or I have been in more sticky crap this summer. But anway are you saying it is working by design? And there is a rev limiter? Guess I learned something today. So anyone have anything on this bypass I could do, or would that cause ither potential issues?

Like posted in so many words above, it's for your own safety.

Have you ever driven a car or truck in reverse at a fast pace? Why would you want to go any faster than what the rev limiter allows?

You could very well have a bad accident if you were to drive in reverse at full throttle.

Yeah, most of them have a provision that limits RPM far below the normal rev limiter when the machine is in reverse.

The Foreman I don't think has that feature because reverse is super low, but the Rincon does.

People do modify the Rincon, but I haven't done mine. Like posted above, it is a safety feature, and I don't have any desire to make the machine capable of 50+ in reverse.

Even though I don't think I would get myself into trouble, I do occasionally let friends ride the machine, and someday I'll probably sell it. Liability wise...

Anyhow, on your machine defeating that safety feature may be as simple as disconnecting the reverse switch, but I'm not sure as I've never attempted to monkey with that on a 400ex.
