Default 2011 kingquad 400 fi

hello to all, i bought a 2011 kingquad 400, was wondering why theres a choke lever on the left handlebar, and yes i have to use it when the machine is cold. was curious it being fuel injected. no other fuel injected quad i have had or have. has a choke for cold start. is there a difference between efi vs fi thanks.

I can only think of one thing that makes sense, and you will not like it.

Any chance that you got a 2010 KQ400 FS - the carb version? That's about the only reason you should have an operational choke lever.

2011 was the first year for fuel injection in the KQ400 (Eiger) so I guess it's possible that the choke lever was left in place - I've never really looked close so I can't say for sure. But, the choke lever will not have any function if it's truly fuel injected.

So I have to say that either you are mistaken when you think that the choke lever is needed to cold start OR you got a carb. machine. Can't hurt to take a quick look and see if you have a carb hanging on the front of the engine.

Since you just got it, then call the dealer.

I could see the choke lever still being there since it's a part of the left handgrip assembly but it would only be as a cost-saving thing and would not be functional. I don't see that there could be any way for a lever to operate the fuel injection.

called the dealer, there service manager says its a rpm stabilizer or what the suzuki factory calls it. i guess some fuel injection system has this stabilizer to control the opening on the throttle body. no big deal was just trying to see if anyone new about this. i like the quad alot. i had a 2006 eiger this new bike feels a little more peppy and handles a little more sporty. what i like the most is they narrowed the body below the seat, so your legs arent spread as far apart, get your knees more tucked in the body, less strain on your back. over all very happy with this quad.

Interesting. I've never heard of any necessary FI controls like that. But, as long as it's supposed to be there.

I was very happy with my Eiger - except for the rear drum brake.
