I use Honda Racing premix which is recommended 32:1. That is pretty much the standard mixture as far as pre mix goes.

Yep, 31:1 is perfect.. I have seen a few older honda's come jetted for 20:1 though, you should have light smoke and a dark tan plug..Joe

I always run 32:1 to 36:1, and have had no problems yet.

I've only had mine for almost 2 weeks, but I'll tell you anyways. After reading the manual, the 20:1 seemed really rich, so I've been riding everyday at 32:1.

Looks as if the best gas/oil mixture is 31:1-36:1.

The less oil you put in the richer it gets... add more oil and you lean it out. Seems crazy dosent it? that is what the 2 stroke tech class I took told me. Think of it like this, oil is thicker than gas, add more oil (say 11:1 and it cannot get threw the jet's in the carb as fast as 32:1 does and in affect leans out your jetting! Now say 100:1 would be super rich, but since there inst much oil in that ratio,, it will not lube the engine more just because it is running rich. I Jet everything I own at 32:1 but my friend loves running his CR500 at 16:1 because he has it jetted perfectly for it. Nice tan plug, gobs of power since OIL burns hotter than gas and never wears out a ring or piston. He also gets better mileage. Hope I explained myself clear enough. I beleve MR.Know it all in dirtbike mag also said this years ago..

I run my TRX 250R at 40:1 with super M and 101 octian it really kicks ***.The oils now days are really alot better then they used to be you don't need to run 20:1 or even 32:1. I've racing like that for years and even with the higher octian I haven't smoked a motor.

I agree, my 2 stroke class instructor uses 32:1 but also says 40:1 is great for 250cc plus size engines as they dont rev to the moon like a CR80 or 125 does. Personly 40:1 is great, but personly i would not go any leaner than 50:1.. I often joke with my friend and his 16:1 mix, fill her up with a quart of gas and a gallon of oil..
